A security guard requirements may vary, depending on of course where you will be working. You may be required to go through some extensive physical training if you intend to work in a high security, high risk area. High level training and a license may be required. Other areas may be less stringent.
The Federal Government is a big employer when it comes to security guards so this is definitely an area you may want to explore. You may need to get a special security clearance when working in some areas, but the pay and benefits are definitely better for these types of jobs.
Some companies that you may want to work for require armed guards. These of course are higher paid sine a higher level of training and responsibility is required. Also, an additional license will be required if this is the type of security guard position you are looking for.
Your best strategy for becoming a security guard is to look at the various positions that you think would offer the best job satisfaction for you. Then investigate what requirements are necessary to attain that position. Don’t forget, security guard training requirements may vary from state to state so you may need to get extra training.
